YouTube Toolkit Version 1
Last updated: July 2, 2026
Summary
YouTube Toolkit Version 1 runs in your browser and is designed to keep data collection minimal. The extension does not sell personal data, does not create user accounts, and does not use tracking cookies.
Information stored locally
The extension may store feature preferences using Chrome extension storage. Examples include whether rating estimates, comment controls, or Shorts cleanup options are enabled.
For Shorts dislike controls, the extension may store local dislike state for specific videos so the interface can remember your choice.
Information sent to third parties
To show rating estimates, the extension requests public estimate data from the Return YouTube Dislike API using the current YouTube video ID. This request does not include your name, email address, or YouTube account credentials.
Optional YouTube metadata features may request public page or API data from YouTube or Google endpoints. These requests are only used to display the requested YouTube information inside the page.
What the extension does not collect
- Email addresses
- Payment information
- YouTube passwords or account credentials
- Full browsing history
- Personal information for advertising or resale
Host permissions
The extension uses YouTube permissions to add controls to YouTube pages, Return YouTube Dislike permissions to fetch public rating estimates, and Google/YouTube API permissions for optional public metadata features.
Data retention
Locally stored settings remain in your browser until you change them, clear extension storage, or uninstall the extension.
